Understanding and Managing Sump Syndrome: A Complex Stone Case
An 80-year-old patient presented with recurrent bile duct stones, jaundice, abdominal pain, and other complications.
ERCP was used to locate and treat the stones.
The patient suffered from "sump syndrome", a condition resulting from the accumulation of food debris and bile stones in the bile duct.
The preferred treatment for this condition is a procedure called sphincterotomy, which aids in removing the accumulated debris and stones.
